Posible concern? 2007/09/22 08:39 Karma: 0
Ryan not sure if this is a program issue or link issue or normal for Joomla.

Every time you select a different page other than the main page even in the forum it 1st takes you to the main page then re directs to the page you requested. Seems like a waste of bandwidth, load time. It did not do that prior to the change of the site over so my thinking it is a error somewhere in they linking.. A redirect config issue.

No big deal for those that have high speed connect but for us poor lonely souls still on dialup it adds considerable time to the load...

are you talking about tabs "Top Quad Site, Park Info, User Mapper, Park Map" showing up on all the pages. Not sure i am following, give an example of what you are talking about, the navigation path.

No, Ok I clicked quote on this topic. First thing it did is quickly refreshed the forum page and then quickly went to the home page then back to the forum page.

Kind of like a http redirect and refresh. Exmaple w/o code. Somewhere in code it says when clicked goto homepage, then homepage says redirect to forum. Just like a linking is out of place somewhere...

Not a real big deal just little annoying, makes one think for a moment that the posting they just made did not take.

Still looking around at templets for new site, not sold on Joomla or any other yet. Use to have a forum program that was somewhat like this setup, was hard to incoperate code that was not apart of the program that someone else did not make. Example, know they do but for example purpose say they did not. If I wanted to install say a storefront, if the code was not made for it had to do a hard walk around coding to make it apart of it where if I just draw it up I can incoperate on my own, just more work, more time.

i tried clicking the quote icoc, it does refresh the page, but it didn't go the the homepage, it passed different variables in the url. The reason i know that it didn't go back to the homepage is the url has a variable called option=com_fireboard. That is the name of the forum software, its called fireboard.

What i recommend so you don't get a page refresh, is clicking the quick reply icon, its a lot faster and you can can still see the previous post message.

You said you were looking for templates. The best joomla templates can be found at www.rockettheme.com and www.templateplazza.com. My website theme is modual_plazza from templateplazza.com. I am not much of a graphic artist, thats why i chose joomla because of some of the cool templates. Plus, I don't want to reinvent the wheel, if someone has already wrote the software use it. A majority of the atv sites are using phpBB or fireboard for their forums, they can be difficult to administer, but if you had to code this yourself you would be looking at months down the road.

Where you get your honeycreek templates, or any of your templates?

Ok I hit reply, 1st page that came up afterwards was the page with the Map of St.Joe Park and your talk about the new design, then it came back to the forum..... I do not knwo why or what but it is doing it no matter what the logs may say....

I was only looking at templates for Joomla. I do not use anyone elses work as I do it all myself from scratch whether it is xhtml, php or c++ I can do it. c++ takes some time but can do it...

I may have a program here and there from others as in Forum or Directory but not the pages al lmine 100% from scratch. Sure you been to Honeycreek, maybe in the forum. It was from a programmer AZ from AZbb. I had permission to re-invent it for my space so I did. Same as a few other programs through out my sites.

I have used phpbb and it is ok but limits the user to there stuff unless you just about completely hack it to the core or just use it as it is.

i guess i don't see what you see because of the internet speed, the tabs "top quad site, park map, user map" will be on every page. i can take that off if you think it looks better.

the thing that sucks about joomla is the templates cost $$$. they have template clubs/subscriptions.

as for the graphics, are you good at them???? i have the top100atvquad site logo on the frontpage, i would like add to the image to grab more attention, but i stink at graphic software.

thanks for the advice on domain names, i agree less is better
