Old Man Law 2007/06/21 06:23 Karma: 0
Getting older, Dirt bikes and ATV's sometimes do not go together if your a man at least. You see the trouble stems from the things dangling between our legs, they just seem to over ride man's brain. Now I have been told over the years this happens in other areas of life but never believed that it was true as I am a man and I am always right, not..... But that is for the women to discuss not me, going to attempt to stay on subject here for those men out there that need a little advise on getting older.

Ok the biggest concern I see or have found is that while the brain or what is left of it say's you can the body say's you better not and the gut feelings you us to guide yourself by no longer give a crap what you do.

Case in point. My neighbor boy all of 19 years of age has a 250 Honda of which he has went with us riding numerous times. I watch in amazement as he goes over the table tops, the loops and hoops of all. I watch him ride wheelies for many yards at a time and have seen him get his butt busted a few times in doing so.

Now since I have purchased the atv's we have and now a Suzuki DRZ400E being 50 years of age and knowing full well I grew up riding dirt bikes it comes to my believe that I too can roll back time and perform these stunts I so use to be able to do.

Old Man Lesson 1)
Do not ever think you can roll back time, time is not moveable in the human body just in the mind.

So I have built my own track now on my land, includes a Mud pit, high banks, small jumps and a table top of about 20 foot in length. My first few rides around all where fine on the atv's. So I got the bike out and went around a few times each time a little faster than the other, confidence building, that old time feeling returning. So a few small jumps, little on the wiggle side but manageable. Then the table top.

Lets just say it was not pretty nor did it feel very good but I made it. So after a bit of time allowing the heart rate to settle down we did it again and same result but little more pain. Not being one to give up again we tried and this time a lot more pain as when I landed the tire caught in a old track and all went south from there, groan pull, sprained angle road rash on my arms from hitting the ground. Bikes ok though that's one good point.

Old Man Law 2)
When something goes wrong no matter what do not allowing pain and misery to be shown in front of the wife, gives ammunition to the phrase "I told you so"..

Old Man Law 3)
If you are watching young kids doing jumps, wheelies and all the things normally done by (keyword) KIDS do not say to self "I can do that" because there is every possibility you can not!

Old Man Law 4)
Wisdom comes with age, it took a long time to gain that wisdom. It takes a very short time to lose the same IF you listen more to those things hanging between your legs and not your brain.

Though there are many more laws to mention and in time I may in conclusion of this note I first want to say after 1 week I can still feel all the pain of trying to turn back time. I hope I have learned a lesson not that I am old or not that I will lay down and take getting older but that I those things dangling between my legs Lie and cannot be trusted............
